Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Review
Dermalogica is a new to me brand and this is the first time I have tried any of their products. I have used many manual scrubs over the years, from weekly use to daily use. So I feel like I can really judge how my skin will react to the product from the first use.
This is one of a few products in recent years that I have used that comes in a powdered form. You need to add water to activate the scrub or add a little to your cleanser.
When to use
You can use this daily if you like by being able to control the amount of powder you use. I tend to use it about once or twice a week as I use a few different types of exfoliation methods throughout the week. Sometimes I use a chemical exfoliation or an at home microderma device.
Once the powder is activated it releases Papain, Salicylic Acid and Rice Enzymes. It’s a really fine powder and has a bit of a chalky scent. It’s not a bad scent and tends to go away once you activate it.
I love the packaging of this product, it’s like a giant chicken salt shaker! It keeps everything very hygienic so you don’t have to worry about water getting into the jar and creating a paste within itself. It’s also very easy to clean if you spill it on your counter or sink.
The top of the jar has two different sized holes that the product comes out from. The bottle is easy to control so I don’t worry too much about using too much.
In this picture I added a little of water so you see how grainy it can get. Not to fear if the mixture is too course you can add a little more water so it’s gentler on your skin. I really like this benefit because I can control the amount of exfoliation depending on what I need that day. Once you have it activated it foams up nicely and becomes creamy.
How I use it
When I use this I usually add it in at the end of my second cleanse before washing off my cleanser. I use it this way since my skin is already wet and it glides easier when I scrub in circular motion. Saves me a little time during my 5,000 step skincare routine.
If I use my Clarisonic or Foreo during my second cleanse I wait until after I use my sonic device and then add the powder part before I wash off my cleanser.

Yes!! I love this product I can really see and feel the difference after using this.
I purchased this product from Adore Beauty (not affiliate link) during a sale they had last year of spending x amount of dollars and receive a small travel bag containing trail versions other products. I can’t recall exactly how much this cost but I’d say around the $50 or so. You get a lot of product for this price, so I feel like I definitely feel like I get my moneys worth.
This is a beautiful product and is super gentle on my rough, oily, acne prone skin. I don’t have any redness or sensitivity after using this product.
I’d highly recommend this product to exfoliating addicts, like myself. Whenever I feel little bumps or just need that extra bit of smoothness I turn to this without any hesitation.
Dermalogica also carries a Superfoliant version of this product and I’ll be purchasing it once I finish this product.
